The relationship between long-staple cotton and fabrics

The fabrics of hotel linen can be divided into 40, 60 or 80 according to the requirements of different star ratings. For high-star hotels, the number of fabrics is usually required to reach 60, 80 or even more than 120. , which has higher requirements for the cotton fiber that is spun into yarn.

Different yarn counts have different requirements for different cotton fibers. Generally, the length of coarse cotton fibers is between 18-22 mm, which can only be used for spinning low-count cotton yarns; the length of fine-staple cotton fibers is between 25-31 mm, which is suitable for spinning 6-60 count yarns; Long-staple cotton must be used in weaving cotton yarns above and above, otherwise there is no way to spin.

When spinning high-count yarn, the physical properties of long-staple cotton determine the yarn quality. During the spinning process, Uster evenness CV gradually decreased with the increase of long-staple cotton content. This is because as the content of long-staple cotton increases, the average number of fibers decreases, and the number of fibers in the cross-section of the sliver is more, which has a certain effect on improving the evenness. Adding a certain amount of long-staple cotton into the fine-staple cotton can effectively improve the evenness of the yarn, so as to better meet the requirements of users.

Breaking strength: Since the yarn forming ability has a certain relationship with the fiber fineness and length, the fiber length is long, the fiber utilization rate is high, the scattered fibers and short fibers in the sliver are less, the fiber fineness is fine, and the fibers in the sliver section When the number of roots is large, the cohesive force increases. Therefore, when the long-staple cotton with longer length and finer fineness is mixed into the fine-staple cotton blend, the breaking strength of the yarn increases significantly. When the content of long-staple cotton is increased to 25%, from 75% to 85%, the breaking strength increases greatly. For every 10% increase in the content of long-staple cotton, the breaking strength increases by more than 12%; in other proportions, For every 10% increase in the content of long-staple cotton, the breaking strength increases by about 3%-6%.

Hairiness: Refers to the fibers protruding from the surface of the yarn body. Hairiness is one of the basic structural characteristics of yarn. In most cases, yarn hairiness not only affects fabric air permeability, anti-pilling, appearance, clear texture and smooth surface, etc. Generally, the more tidy the fibers, the lower the short fiber content, the smoother the yarn surface, and the corresponding reduction in hairiness. This is similar to when girls are braiding, long braids are always neater and less frizzy than short braids. Yarn defects: eliminate the influence of machinery, environment, operation, process and other factors on yarn defects in the spinning process. Generally speaking, as the velvet content of long-staple cotton increases, yarn defects gradually decrease. This is because as the content of long-staple cotton increases, the average fiber length becomes longer and the average fineness becomes thinner. The utilization rate is high, the cohesive force is increased, the floating fibers are less in the spinning process, and the chance of yarn defects is reduced.
